Mommy loves you so much. It is unbelievable how much love Daddy and I have for you and it grows every day. You are such a joy; just so much fun to be around. You are well-mannered and sweet and ultra talkative, bossy. Sounds just like I am describing myself.
This is my last entry little man. Writing you was fun but now, we are just too busy enjoying our fabulous life.

Dear my sweet Mason,

Time is just flying by. I don't apologize for not writing lately; we've been having so much fun. You have the sweetest disposition with that feisty scorpio spirit. Nothing can keep you down. You literally never stop talking. It's no wonder I not only couldn't keep up with all the new words and phrases. You now say phrases up to six words! Strangely enough, you have picked up a NY accent when you say certain things (shour = sure) and it cracks us up. You love being outdoors be at the beach or the mountains. Obsessions still include water, fans, and vacuums. Thankfully, you don't tantrum much because of how well you can communicate with us but when you do, you lie on the floor, scream a little, then you're over it (yeah! for that). You love getting owies now because you get kisses. "Kiss it" and you know Mommy is there. Sadly, you bite your fingers so you have owies consistently (in addition to the ones you get from being a 2 yr. old boy). You have been without a pacifier for over a month with the exception of nap time. You never even ask for it (much better transition then we expected). One night, we forgot to give it to you and from then on, no issues.
So I said we've been busy. From grandparents day on, we have been enjoying fall to the fullest. From pumpkin patches to orchards, from the fair to the beach and how about a hayride in the mtns., I think we've done it all. Seems we've been celebrating your birthday all season!

This is the best time of our lives yet! It's hard to believe it's only going to get better. Happy 2nd birthday angel.

Mason,

Yes, I quoted Barney. It's only fitting seen as how you are obsessed with the three Barney VHSs we own. Each day you surprise me by revealing a new trick up your sleeve. Like tonight in the bath tub, you were playing perfectly (which is more rare than an uncooked steak) and I heard you whisper, "clean up." You began putting everything back in the EXACT place you got it from; shampoo, loofah, toys. When you were finished, you said, "out" and once I pulled you out you said, "baby." After every bath, I bundle you up as tight as I can and I parade you around saying, "look, I have a new baby, oh sweeeeet baby Mason" and you absolutely love it. This isn't the first time you have said that but it reminds me that those mirror neurons of yours are working overtime.

A few days ago, Daddy and I took you to the park to play with AJ and Wy Wy (or Iat, whichever you are in the mood to use). The pictures speak for themselves.

You are learning so much at school and I love that we can see it translate to home already. I love coming home on Tuesday and Thursday and seeing all of the awesome artwork. When I show you, you tell me what you made with a big smile on your face. You also love church on Sundays. Every time I go to pick you up, you are chasing someone around the room.
We tried on your 4th (yes, 4th) costume for Halloween. You don't like it as much as your Elmo or dog costumes but I know Daddy does. Your 4th costume (to be worn trick-or-treating) will be fabulous (no clues or nothin'
The three of us have been having so much fun together the past few weeks. I really love our family dynamic! We have taught you how to play football (down (you squat), set, hut/hike and we run at you LOL), taken you to Celebrate Freedom where you got your first tattoo, swung you in your chute to your new favorite song (Needtobreathe Washed by the Water), "boomed" on the bed into clean laundry, and just had a blast.
Yes, the twos can be terrible and trying but overall, you make them pretty terrific.

Bless your heart for thinking you are seven. For thinking you can do everything and that the phrase, "your too little for that" will get you a smirk followed by the action...completed with ease. Tuesday was your first day of 2 year old preschool. I was very blessed to be able to experience you walking in for the first time. We got to school early so I could take pictures;
Mommy: say cheese
Mason: no, no mommy
Needless to say, you wanted to be independent. On the way, you said, "school to play." You walked right into the classroom and started playing. Not that I was surprised but man, it proved that you are a little boy!

From what I know, you had a great first day. You were bitten but apparently it's a rite of passage (and they said you got over it really quick). Today you came home with two art projects and the director asked Daddy if you could come more than 2 days because you love it so much.
In other news,
you walked up 5 steps and down 6 steps completely unassisted today which the the most to date.
you saw a bug, freaked a little (you hate them thank Jesus), then stepped on it. I have taught you well young grasshopper...
we LOVE Gymboree Play and Music. you know what comes next, you like to kiss Gymbo, and you say, "yeah!" all the time
you had a great play date with Wyatt yesterday. honestly, it was probably your best play date ever. you two really played with each other! chasing and laughing (you were hysterical; I don't think I've ever seen you smile so big), bouncing on the trampoline together and cracking up, sharing toys. Wyatt would say, "ready set (or what sounded like it" and you would say "go." just what AJ have always wanted for you two.

Friday night we went to Six Flags. The park was only open to Lockheed employees so it wasn't super packed. I have never heard you say, "weeee" so many times in your life. There were so many rides you could go on; it was great.

I finally know how it feels

Mason,

Going into my fourth year teaching, I felt like a veteran going into my school's meet and greet this morning. Parents of my past Kindergarteners and my new class of SNP kids always came in with a little apprehension and a lot of excitement. I acted like I knew what it felt like to have my little one go to school for the first time, but I had no clue.
When Daddy and I signed you up for the 2 year old class at Mt. Calvary, we were and still are so thrilled. We know you will have great social experiences, burn off some of that energy, and learn a lot along the way. Tonight was your first meet and greet. Totally wasn't expecting my reaction. As we walk to your classroom, Daddy and I holding your hands, I couldn't help but feel that apprehension and excitement. My little man has grown up, and has a big boy cubby to prove it.

I will for sure be as much a helicopter mom as I can and taking pictures of every little thing I get the chance to be a part of (and having Daddy take some too since he's the "class dad").

I said, "say cheese" and you said, "ssshhh"

Ms. Stacy will have her hands full with 9 boys and 2 girls but you will have so much fun. I finally know how it feels to allow your child to grow up.

Mason,

Daddy told me that the part of the brain that involves risk isn't fully developed until a man is 20. I wouldn't have believed it except for the trip we made the day before supports his theory...
Gammy (SHE HAS A NAME!) and I met at Costco and were checking out some bagels. DIRECTLY in front of you who was standing in the large part of the cart (yeah, I know). We both watch as you completely somersault over the side and land face up, head first unto the cement. THAT CAN NEVER HAPPEN AGAIN. You only cried for about 5 minutes. Once I started singing Bieber, you laid your head on my shoulder. Gams and I had no idea what to do and the darn dr. wouldn't get back to us. You dosed off. Back in the day that was a huge no no. We freaked out and called the dr. again. They said to head straight to the ER. So I brought my wet 25 lb. noodle to the hospital. The minute we walked in, you perk up and say, "ion (there was a picture of a lion on the wall)." I knew you were fine at that point but wanted to be 100% sure. Gams and A.K. met us at Kennestone. Turns out it was JUST a mild concussion. NO BUMP, no nothing. Freakin' A son. Way to scare the bejesus out of me!

In other extremely happy news, you say I LOVE YOU now. Full on. You started what sounded like it a few days ago then the 2 nights ago at the Currys, you walked into the kitchen and said, "Daddy I love you." I left you with Gammy this morning (yup, back to work) and you waved bye and said love you.

You still are loving making videos of yourself on the computer and on Daddy's iphone.

You also love to take picutres. You grab the camera and say, "cheese." Not to bad for a wee one.

Open house for your school is next Thursday. I am so excited. Mrs. Lisa even signed Haven up to be in the same class as you!

Check out say what? as I am revamping it a little since there is NO WAY to keep up with every new word or phrase. You are obsessed with, "hant" right now. You want to hold everyone's hand and take them everywhere.

Leadership Potential

Mason,

You have been blessed with consecutive Daddy day afternoons. Daddy was home to two full days and I know you enjoyed every minute. I know (trust me) you love me but sometimes I really think you need some Daddy time. Since it is consignment season, you two were on your own yesterday and a little today (I got you a magna doodle and a basketball hoop and Barney slippers (and other stuff you don't care about)). The stage Dad came out a little when he took you on a shoot yesterday.

At the very end, you needed to smile and you went into a passive aggressive temper tantrum. I get home and the house is a little messy but I can tell you two have had such a fun time singing and dancing and playing with balls and trucks!

In other news, you are singing CONSTANTLY!

and a bunch more. You become more obsessed with JB as time goes on. If he isn't playing in the car, you will hear about it! Has to be the right volume too.

We had Summer and her mommy over a few days ago and you really showed off your sharing skills (she however not so much, made you cry twice). I was extremely proud of you!

I went upstairs, you followed me. I went downstairs. You wanted me with you.

When we went to art class at NMC, the coordinator had two pools laid out so you kids could splash in the water with the fish toys. All of you were fully clothed so the idea was to just have you splash.....Within 20 seconds, you were in the pool. Out of 15 kids obeying, you were standing in it. I ignored it just long enough to finish putting water in it then got you out....only to see you walk in the smaller pool. Great. A minute later, 15 kids are in and out of both pools; everyone fully drenched. One mom said, "Mason has real leadership potential." Nice way to put it...

20 Months

Dear Mason,

Happy 20 month birthday. Only one day short of Mommy's big 2-5. I cannot believe we only have 4 months left until you turn 2. Like everyone says, seems like yesterday I was dreaming of having my blonde, blue eyes baby boy. Now, he's not even a baby.
At 20 months, you can say most of the letters in the alphabet and if we sing Who Let the Letters Out?, you can say most of the letter sounds. You have a song list on itunes and you love dancing! We have to move all the toys out of the way because you get so into it!

Check this out for a somewhat comprehensive list of your vocabulary (it's really hard to keep track). You are one silly little boy who loves to sing (you make up songs, typically about yours truly), dance, gang up with Sicily, play instruments, dig in dirt, hit mommy and laugh, and best of all, give fabulous hugs.
People are really seeing your personality in those new pictures we took last month. You had a casting last week and two this week (at the Kids II one, you kissed Ms. Stacey when she fixed your hair). Speaking of last week, we survived without Daddy for a whole week while he was in the Dominican Republic. We throughly enjoyed each other (and grandma's dinners!). Your great uncle past while he was gone but the silver lining came when we were able to meet Great Aunts Dodie and Bonnie, your Great Uncles Andy and Eddie, and a bunch of cousins and even second cousins. When Daddy came home, he let you play with his cool gadgets!

You love animals, throwing everything, testing patience (you say, "uuummm" before you do something you know you aren't supposed to), climbing (in church a couple weeks ago, I came to pick you up and you were standing on a chair banging on the door with a stick. when I said, "mason," she said, "thank you." lol), coloring, doing the laundry, watching TV (PBS or baseball) and movies (Elmo or Baby Einstein), and making us laugh.
For the 4th of July, we attended the 89th annual Turner family reunion in Cumming. We were so blessed that Daddy was able to have the day off (that was the reason we didn't go last year). A relative brought pictures of your great great great great great grandpa Berry Turner; that's 7 generations back! Again, you met many family members and got to visit the home Granny grew up in.

We went to the Marietta Square in hopes of corn dogs and fireworks. Not so much. It poured and we went out to eat then went home.
We spent part of your 1/4 birthday at the Dr. After being outside for only 10 minutes, just like your Mommy, you got eaten alive by mosquitos and one bite looked nasty! An antibiotic prescription cream later and all should be well soon. You weighed 24 pounds and 12 ounces fully clothed with shoes. No wonder my arms get sore!

Out of Hand

I am so glad I found time to write. My lack of writing has gotten out of hand.

How potty training came and went...
We began our potty training expedition. It stopped as fast as it started.
I have been saying for the past few weeks that while I am not ready, you seem to be ready to take the plunge. A few days ago, you told me three times that you needed to potty and you did (twice in diaper, once in potty) then told me you had to poopy and and ran to the potty and pushed (I love your little push noise) it all out. Yesterday, we bought another pack of training pants, another seat for the potty, and a travel potty seat in preparation. We began the 3-day model bare-bottomed at 6:30 am. Yeah, rough already. I read over and over that the first day is messy. Didn't start off too bad. You would start to go then finish on the potty. Then it got to the point that you went every 10 minutes. I refuse yeah refuse to put you on the potty every 10 minutes. You peed on the floor, carpet, and even the bathroom counter (brushing teeth). Again, I know messy and thankfully no poop! Straw that broke the camel's back. I sat you on the potty. I KNEW you had to go. You aren't patient at all so sitting for more than 3 minutes is your worst nightmare. So already fed up Mommy at 9:00 let you off only to see you pee on the floor 1 minute later. I chased you with Grandma on the phone so she could hear you laughing, picked you up and you fought with me like never before not to sit on that darn potty. I gave in and you finished peeing on the floor and I put on your diaper.
We said we were still going to put you on the potty as much as we can though. Fat chance. You won't go anywhere near it now. You even squat and tell us. Stinker...

New obsessions...
dipping. We call you our Little Dipper. Daddy is the big dipper. Ketchup is your dip of choice (you dipped a strawberry in it the other day. it was followed by, "ew") but you love Chick-fil-a sauce too.

Bye. Obviously for months you have been able to wave and say bye but you have become obsessed with doing it when we are leaving anywhere. I love it. Sometimes you do it when I haven't even said anything about leaving. It's like you knew.

Booty Rides. Ok so weird name. Not sure why we call it that but all it is is a piggy back ride. I guess you say that because we have to stick out our booty. At any rate, you ask for Dad and I for them all the time.

In other news...
sunburn. The day after Grandma and I took you to Lake Acworth, I noticed you had a little sunburn on your shoulder. Needless to say, when we went yesterday, you looked like a marshmallow.

Last week we had the Spinners over for BBQ and you loved helping Daddy and Pop. When I say help though, you didn't help barbecue, you helped make everyone laugh. Since our backyard is still a forest (come July 7th it won't!!), Dad and I don't let you leave the porch and you really don't have much desire to play in it anyway.......lets just say that night, you carried around a small tree, sat in charcoal and had more bug bites than I thin I have ever had (which is impressive since I am a mosquito magnet).

Father's Day was Sunday and we had such a GREAT day. Breakfast with the Spinners, church with the Spinners AND Turners for Daddy's send-off service (he is headed to the Dominican Republic on a mission trip), lunch with the Turners, short nap, then dinner with the Spinners at our house. Gotta love a family day! If only we all went to the same church...

While your receptive and expressive vocabulary is growing, so is your nonsense vocabulary. Seriously....sometimes you say full sentences and look at us and all you get is an, "oh really?!" because we are SO confused.

A.K., Grandma, and I took you last week to have some pictures made. After the disaster at Kiddie Kandids and month ago, I really had no faith we would get anything good. I was wrong. You hammed it up.

You now have little boy hair (not peach fuzz) on your legs and arms. A constant reminder you aren't a baby anymore.

In addition to Super Why! and Curious George, you love to watch Barney and dance to the songs (I did too!). When the "I love you" conclusion song rolls, you run to the TV and hug yourself :)

You still love to tickle and be tickled. I love to tickle so we are a perfect match!

Grandma and I took you to Lake Acworth today. Not sure of the sand at first but after realizing how fun and messy it was you LOVED it. We played in the water and had SO much fun that I think we will be coming next week (and the next week...).

Potty training begins tomorrow, Sunday, or Monday. Depends on if we can gather select materials (another potty seat, disposable liners, etc). After you told me three times today you had to go potty, and you actually went (in your diaper....can't run that fast), it is just right timing and you are ready.
Yesterday I was doing yard work. You decided I needed help.

We go to the pool at least 3x a week.

We were able to bring dinner over to the Burfitt's house yesterday and met sweet baby Henry. He is SO wrinkly and so cute! You met your match in Jakson. You too were funny playing together. You still like to steal the toy he is playing with. Ms. Elizabeth and I want to get you boys together a lot this summer. Jaks can teach you how to throw with better accuracy and you can teach Jaks a couple words. Hopefully we can go on a double date soon with his mom and dad!

Today we hung out with Ms. Lisa and Haven. You really get a kick out of Haven. You laugh when he does something funny and love giving hugs. We are going to have so much fun playing at the pool with them this summer!

Gotta love this...

You love to "culey" i.e. color. You have made a few masterpieces lately. We still aren't sure what hand is predominant as you still switch between the two.

The freckles have finally appeared! As you know, your immediate family has some pretty serious freckledge goin' on. You have had one on the top of you head for a while but now you have on on your lower arm and back.

You found your build-a-bear and were reminded of how soft and cuddly he was! You loved petting him.

I am already enjoying loving on you all day and having you all to myself! Best summer yet and it'll keep getting better.

Really Somethin'

Sweet baby,

It is amazing how fast time is just flying by. Last night, we went to Taylor Reilly's graduation party and even though you aren't graduating until 2028, I remember when he was little and how much he has accomplished in what seems like such a short time. Scary to think that you aren't always going to be little!
Speaking of, everyone loved you last night. Seriously. Aunt Puff's pop kept saying, "he is really somethin'!" Exactly what my Pop would say. Eating, dancing, running away (good times), last night was so fun.
You LOVE water even more every day. You find it in all different places too and make sure we see the "ardy." Two and sometimes three word phrases are now used CONSTANTLY. I am trying to keep up with everything but between, "no no ma ma" and "ooo big" and "cookie peess" and "pirate," I am just so flabbergasted! Even with your receptive language you have grown exponentially. For a while you have been able to "dust it off" when you fall and you brush your hands together or on your shirt, you can bring me things, clean up (and you will until it's all finished), do laundry (which I hope you continue to LOVE), and more. While watching your movie the other day, Daddy kept looking at me and pointing at you. We are both SO surprised at how many animals you recognize and can say (can't wait to take you to the zoo!).

Hoping they will help you with your balance. Check out these knees! You fall at least once a day and open the scab.

Your sickness is finally clearing up. After you rejected all medication including your antibiotic, we took you to CHOA and of course, you took the steroid medication the dr. gave you and your antibiotic. I also gave you a Feverall suppository (the things we do for our children), it is was fabulous! You still have a mucusy cough but it's not really phasing you.
You are now napping closer to 12:30 and sometimes we wait to put you down until after lunch. The other day we went to the pool around 12:45 and you played for a while before you gave in to the sleepiness. Just like last year, you totally conked out in the pool! But of course, not before you swam to me. No lie, you kicked and swam to me! Gotta love Grandma pushing you at swimming lessons!

Bubble Boy

Mason,

If only I could put you in a bubble. Then maybe you wouldn't get sick. Oh wait. You do live in a bubble! You are either with Mommy, Daddy, or Grandma and you rarely see other children. I cringe thinking of the illnesses you will pick up at school in the fall.
After an awkward morning, Grandma knew something wasn't right. The past three nights you would get fussy at least once and one time you asked for water. Ms. Diane took your temperature and it was 99.3 and by the time we left, it was 101.4. She took one look into your mouth and said it was swollen, red, and your tonsils were huge. Tonsillitis with a treatment of a 3 hour rotation of Tylenol and Advil (children's now because you weighed just a tad over 24 lbs.) and Omniceft (the dreaded diarrhea and diaper rash antibiotic) for 10 days. Last night you slept worse than you have ever slept. You just can't catch a break!
The other day you started using 2 and 3 word phrases and each day you add new words to your vocabulary. It is quite extraordinary to hear you use new words and correctly.
Wednesday was your last day of swimming lessons and you did a great job. In swimming you learned to blow bubbles, kick, jump to Grandma, and even swim a little. We are so proud of you and can't wait to work on everything over the summer.

I have poopy

Mason,

Two nights ago at Chris and Alex's house, you walked over to me and said, "I have poopy." And you were right. First sentence...check (if "dog go ruff ruff" didn't count last week)! While you were there you also said, "kitty cat" and thouroughly enjoying playing with their cat.
Yesterday when I was getting in you in the car, you looked down and said, "Issy poopy." You knew who pooped on the lawn and it wasn't you.
You go pee on the potty everytime I put you on (which is still before baths/showers). I am so excited for next month's potty training!

Mason,
I cannot believe it was almost a week ago that you turned a year and a half! 2 is just a short 6 months away. Blows my mind.

We bought your first pair of flip flops (your official inauguration into our flip flop wearin' family). I put them on and boy did the dimples shine! You LOVED them and you thought you were the coolest guy. Dadddy and I also bought you some Crocs for the summer (finally found your size (which is about a 4.5-5)).

I took you to bed a couple nights, turned off the light, and you kept saying, "tee tu tee tu." I said, "your welcome" because I thought you were saying thank you. We sat in the rocking chair and I started to sing the first song I always sing to you. Can you guess? Twinke Twinkle. You sung right along with me, "tee tu tee tu." You knew it was coming :)

You love to give hugs and even made up a sign for when you really want one (you hug yourself). I love when you give me the friend pat too. A few weeks ago, the three of us were sitting on the couch watching music videos and Thompson Square's Are you gonna kiss me or not came on. Sure enough, you leaned into me and gave me a big "um" and we started the serial kissing. You can't just kiss once, especially if there is someone else nearby. You go back and forth between the people and average about 3 kisses each!

Laundry. You going to start doing it on your own soon. I say something like, "time to do laundry" and put it on the floor. You grab it and put each piece through the bannister. If you forget an article, I'll remind you "one more" and you'll grab it and toss it down. Then when we get downstairs, I open the washer and you grab pieces (usually 2 or 3 at a time), walk toward the washer, and throw it into the "ardy." You love helping with any chore (you love cooking) and have fabulous receptive language.

You saw a dog on TV and said, "dog go" and started barking. First sentence? Not sure but pretty awesome.

You are obsessed with airplanes and choo choos. An airplane will be flying over and you stop what you are doing and put your hand up and attempt to say something (airplane is a big word).

There is now a sign (made up by you of course) for hot. You not only say it but you put your hand up (like you are saying stop). You know how to blow and it cracks me up. Anytime we see something burning (candle, neighbor next door smoking, etc) you start seriously blowing. Sometimes you will do it even if you see a bright light. We are still working on blowing hot food.

You saw a waterfall a few days ago and holy cow, you were in "ardy" heaven! "Ardy" is everyones favorite word because you roll the r and you don't even attempt to say water.

You are very ready for your own car. You say it with a New York accent (unlike Memaw which is said straight southern) which makes it even better. Yesterday we saw an electric Escalade and climbed in a started driving with a grin ear to ear. A week or so ago Daddy and you drove his car from the driveway to the garage. That combined with a lawn mower ride. Heaven.

You hate leaving. When someone leaves or our car pulls away from Grandma or Memaw's house, you get so upset. Memaw watched you a week or so ago for a little while and you got so upset that I took you out of the car and let you play a little longer.

Last week you had a Baby Einstein Go See followed by a call back shoot the next day. Neither were actual jobs but you are now (like you are ever few months) on the up-to-date casting reel for Kids II. The three of us got to go to the shoot and we had fun (when the three of us are together, it's always fun).

Your schdule really hasn't changed. You wake up average 7:30-8:00, nap around 11:30-12:00, and go to bed around 8:30-9:00. I AM PROUD TO REPORT THAT YOU ARE CONSISTANTLY SLEEPING THROUGH THE NIGHT.

Everything has been "upy" lately. You want to be wherever we are are actively engaging in it. Whether it is up on the couch watching TV or up in our arms while cooking.

A.K. and I took you for your 18 month pictures and well, we got nothing to show for it. You wouldn't sit to save your life. Tonight we got you to model an outfit Daddy wore when he was little.

Mother's day was great. We chilled at home and watched HGTV and apparently you called Daddy at some point and he came home with flowers from you. The three of us went out to eat with Pop and A.K. for dinner then I went with them to pick up Grandma at the airport (I never miss a trip to the airport!).

Little A.K. turned 21 on Tuesday and we ate at Capos. I made a funfetti cake and you freakin' loved it! We made cupcakes for her party and now you are obsessed with "cupy c."

You say "num num" when you are hungry.

You are seriously silly. Your yiddish tone with jabbering, your silly dancing, you love of family hugs, the freakin' tomahawk chop. We laugh every day.

Today I forgot I left you diaperless and when it got quiet, I went looking for you. You were next to Gram and Pop's toilet, staring at your pee on the floor, and saying "poopy." I cannot wait to potty train you! You are so ready. A.K. came over sometime last week while you and Daddy had a yucky stomach bug. The whole day you had diarrhea and it was scaring you a little at the noise it made. We were sitting in the play room and you look at us, make a noisy poop, then look sweetly at us and the in most gentle voice said, "poopy."

Mason,

I have had the same answer to that question since I was born. Throughout school in essays and even just the other day at work, I was asked If you could be anywhere in the world...I would vividly describe the smell, the experience, and the overwhelming warmth I have always felt when being there. By there, I mean my Grammy and Pop's house. I could go on and on and completely talk you ear off like I did to Daddy one night a few months ago about all the specifics.

Your great Grammy and Pop are second parents to me. I can't even describe how much I love, respect, and appreciate them. Gram, A.K., and I (sometimes Pop) would go to NJ every summer for over a month and we would have more fun each visit. I really hope Daddy (who has never been to my magical place) and I can take you up there next summer and you can experience the lake, the Jersey shore, the fabulous food at the old people restaurants, Willow and Encore, coloring at the kitchen table, and if your lucky, get tucked in by Pop (check!).

Over spring break, a lot of health issues surface with the G and P. Grammy had a minor stroke and Pop's hip replacement completely crumbled. Both G and P had surgery today. Grandmother Mimi headed up to NJ to be with her parents, brother, and sisters. Praise God both G and P's surgeries went well. Seriously. Praise God. Hopefully they can even grace us with their presence over the summer!

You are so blessed, Mason, to have two magical places with amazing grandparents right around the corner. I know your Grandmother Mimi is looking forward to the day when you have more pictures of her and Pop in the house then of you and your wife (we do!). Can't wait to take you up over the summer!

Body Surfing

Mason,

We have had the gate at the top of the stairs removed for a while and we have had no issues. You like to walk down the first three steps using the bannister but then you climb back up. Or you will crawl down backward. Either way is safe. Until today. I was putting away laundry and I heard a tumble. Not a tumble that I usually hear when you throw something down the stairs but a rolling tumble. I caught just the end of it and you were on your belly body surfing down the stairs! I snatched you up and you cried for a second then wanted to get down and play!

This morning I took you to a Baby Einstein go see. That company is very familiar with you as you have modeled with them several times. They saw you and said, "oh Mason!" Then Ms. Stacey (she was there too!) told the other people (who we hadn't met) that you were on the approved list (guess that's a good thing). They watched you play for a second, saw the smile, commented on your fabulousness and we set up a time for you to attend the pre-shoot tomorrow afternoon. As usual, not sure specifically what it's for but that's part of the fun of it!

After our date at The Vineyard (the restaurant Mommy worked at) this afternoon, I took you to the doctor. You had a nose bleed at 2am a couple days ago and it was the straw the broke the camel's freakin' back! Diane said she couldn't see exactly the problem other than lots of snot way up your tiny nose so she told us to head to Dr. Vick (appt. for the 18th).

Holy cow! We have just been having the time of our lives recently. Seriously, I have forgot to mention things and had hoped to write you sooner about others. You know me; let's jump right into it.

Check out say what? for all your new jargon. I was telling Ms. Lisa how crazy it is how much you can say. New things left and right.

We figured out "ardy" means water. Here is how I gathered that. It is watey (which you also call water) with no w and an r in the middle. Go mom!

You wanted to play "ousi" the other day. I told you one minute, you said "shoe" and went and grabbed your shoes and walked to the chair. Now every time you want to go out with no shoes on I ask you to find your shoes and you find them and walk to the chair so I can put them on.

You aren't a fan of you pal Grayson yet. He came over a few days ago and you liked touching his hand at first. When he started playing with you toy, you just let him have it. Bully.

You love other people's stomach, belly button, and back. You will randomly lift up a person's shirt to find it and get mad if they won't let you.

Daddy and I took you to a Braves game 2 weekends ago. I watched about a half inning of the game but the two of us had a great time. This is going to sound really lame but when we climbed to the top of the play house in the Cartoon Network play area, you were more courageous going down the big slide. You also loved playing with the tomahawk. Had to buy you one. Speaking of baseball, you love sitting with Daddy at night watching the game. Even though you only did it once, you can do the tomahawk chop!

Imitation is your speciality. You LOVE to imitate sounds. When I was spraying furniture polish to dust, you imitated the sound it made. You do it with everything.

You can blow. While at Grandmas, I was straining noodles and when the smoke rose, you started blowing. I was burning a candle the other day and you looked at me and started blowing.

We are having issues with the word bubble. Since to you it means two different things (bubbles we make in water and actual sphere shaped bubbles), when we are blowing bubbles outside and I say, "bubble" you "kiss" the concrete.

I asked you for a kiss the other day and you looked at me and said, "no."

The Spinners, Daddy, and I took you to the circus this past week. Sadly, you couldn't ride a darn thing. We did however take you to see the show. Of course, the only part you liked was the elephant. You got upset when he disappeared behind the curtain but when the next act started and you could see the elephant in his pen, you just kept reaching, saying "ellla."

I hope you had a wonderful second Easter! I know Daddy and I did.

We started the morning at a fabulous 9:00. Yes, you let us sleep in for the first time in over 17 months! After cinnamon rolls we headed to church. You slept from when the music started playing all the way until we got home.

After lunch we visited Memaw and Grandaddy then headed to dinner at the Spinner house.

When they arrived at the office, Diane noticed you had ulcers in your mouth and down your throat. You re on a regimine of Mylanta and Benadryl (aka magic mouthwash), and Honey Elixir (since it is a virus, there are no antibiotics).

Thank God for mother's intuition. I hope (I know) you are enjoying Memaw's spoiling today!

A Bloody Mess

Mason,

After Grandma cut her hand, I was hoping our family was done with blood for a little while. Not so much. Saturday morning you had your first nose bleed while in Mommy and Daddy's bed. That afternoon, you had another one. Thank you dry weather! Dried blood then spaghetti sauce that night. Nice. Of course the area where you bit through your lip (you totally ate it up) wasn't healed so it looked straight up like we are the worst parents on the planet!
Since Sunday, you have had a cough that is getting progressively worse. Memaw is watching you today and is taking you to the doctor this morning. Daddy and I think it is the fluid from your ears draining. Even so, we want to be sure.
At Grandma's on Monday, you hit your head and got a beautiful bruise on your forehead. Yesterday you thought it didn't stand out enough so you hit it again.

You are a bloody mess.

bilateral myringotomy with tubes

Mason,

This morning was your bilateral myringotomy with tubes surgery. Dr. Vick placed tubes through both ear drums to help eliminate ear infections and the use of oral antibiotics (which cause you diarrhea and severe diaper rash).
We left the house this morning a little after 7:00 and head to Paulding Hospital. After we check-ed in, nurse Jackie got your stats and attached that thing to your foot to check your vitals (can't remember what it's called).

We then spoke with the anesthesiologist and he went over the standard and easy procedure of "going down." Daddy and I were a little concerned as Dad had a reaction to anesthesia once when he was young. He assured us and he sent in the doctor who informed us that you were the next baby. Super Why was on so you didn't have a problem waiting.

A surgical tech. who looked like Ms. Muffet came and after you voluntarily went to her, took you for the surgery. I am not going to lie. Even though I knew we were doing a great thing for you, it was KILLING me that I didn't have control over the situation. Thankfully, God did.
My handsome boy was delivered back to our room about 30 minutes later, a little groggy and wanting milk. The surgery went perfect.

The nurse warned us (and so did the babies in the rooms next to us) you would come back from the anesthesia livid but honestly after you were just a little whiny and cuddly. Nothing crazy. about 10 minutes into the car ride, you turned back into our little Mason and other than a 2.5 hour nap (yeah!), have had a normal day.
With these tubes, there is still a chance you can develop an ear infection. The positive part is that the way we will know is through gunk from your ear. With these, there is no guessing game. If you do get an infection, it is treated with special ear drops. NO MORE freakin' antibiotics! Not that he will read this but Dr. Vick, we are so grateful for your kindness. We will recommend you to all whose children are in need of ENT services.

All In a Day's Work

Mason,

Your rapid-fire learning is really unreal. Seriously. This is everything that just happened today!

You looked and pointed at Elmo and said, "Elmo" clear as day and continued for the whole day when you'd play with him.

Today when the hospital called to ask some questions for tomorrow's surgery, she asked if you knew at least 2 body parts. I said yes (head and tummy). Tonight when I told Daddy, he knew you could identify more than that. He asked you ears, nose, and feet. You knew them all!

While on the computer tonight, Dad asked me to come in the living room. You 2 were all cuddled watching the Braves. I came and sat next to you and Daddy said, "Go Braves" and was doing the tomahawk chop. You started doing it to. I was impressed but you did it a little last year. Tonight however, was different. Every time we would say, "Go Braves" you would do it. When the baseball game came back from commercial, you did it. Crazy! Oh and to top it off, you said baseball. Three times.

While in the shower, you said, "duck."

Mason,
I realized the other day that yet again, my letters don't include all the funny, smart, and sometimes strange things you do. Here are some of those worth mentioning (maybe for a second time as I can't remember what I write sometimes).

you have a plastic toy pirate ship (no surprise). you really want to play in it however it is no where near big enough. you will stick your foot in and try to sit and everytime Daddy or I have to get you un-stuck!

you know some letters. ok, I am exaggerating. In the tub, I will show you letters and tell you what they are. You think every letter is T. When playing on the fridge, you think every letter is D.

when we wake up from a nap together or when I bring you in our bed in the morning, you can be a real slug and I love it. There have been times that we have cuddled or been silly in the bed for 30 minutes. you typically sit up then smash your head into my belly and nuzzle until you get comfy.

still obsessed with tummys and backs. you lift people's shirt up and look at or touch their back or tummy.

you say, "throw" and throw a ball. then I say catch and you put your hands out. not quite there yet with the catching but I love how hard you try!

you love helping me with the laundry (yeah!!!). you help me throw the dirty clothes over the bannister then when we get downstairs, I start the washer and you grab articles of clothing and I lift you up so you can throw the clothes in it. you like to hang out by the dryer while I put the clothes in it.

everytime we go into the garage and when I come to get you out of the car, you move your arms in a large circle like you are driving a tractor. well, you are. Daddy likes to let you help him mow the yard. you LOVE Daddy's tractor/ride on mower so much that even when it is just parked, you still want to act like you drive it.

Mas of Base,

I almost wasn't going to write. I have so much to say and don't feel like it is ever comprehensive enough. You are such a great kid with the quirkiest personality. I tell Daddy all the time that I can't believe you are seriously ours! Granted, you give us a run for a money sometimes but the amount of love we have for you grows each day.
Here is what is up with you at 17 months old!

you are a ferocious cookie monster! The other day Daddy said, "a man can't live on cookies alone." you would beg to differ. you clearly say, "cookie" for cookies, candy, and other shouldn't haves.

you crack me and Bamaw up with some of your jibber jabber. Your favorite word is "cool yea" which to you means, "cook/cooking." you say it with a yiddish spit and we think it's hilarious.

you know how to get your point across and it amazes me. you will push, pull, or drag us to where you want us then point to or say what you want.

you LOVE to imitate sound. the birds, weird platypus toy, car horn (you say, "bup"). you also made up another sign. when you want to sit on the ride-on mower, you moe your arms like you are driving!

This week was fantastic as Mommy was on spring break! On Tuesday we met Ollie and his mom at the children's museum and had a great time.

As you can see from the photo above, you have no clue about stranger danger. Numerous times you have walked up to young children (typically girls and around 4-6) and babies and just hug them. Here are some instances:
In Dick's. Walk up to a 6 year old girl and hug her legs. Then loom up at her and hug her again.
In Gymboree. You walk up to a little girl and she introduces herself. You hug her then take her hand and walk to the front of the store.
Yard sale this morning. While "helping" us run the yard sale at Pop and Bamaw's, a little boy walks up. You immediately run toward him and hug him
It again, makes us laugh hysterically! You also are now hugging me. I mean really hugging me. When you see me or want me, you reach out and the second a grab you, you throw your arms tightly around my neck and lay your head on my shoulder. Only to me.

Back to our week! On Wednesday, Haven came over to play! You of course hugged him too. Just like with Wyatt, you had to play with the exact toy he was. It was entertaining.

Thursday, we took a day trip with A.J. and Wyatt to Chattanoga, TN. State number 7 I believe (Florida, California, South Carolina, Georgia, and Arizona and North Carolina (even though they were just lay overs). Anyway, we left at 9:15 and you were asleep by 9:45. The drive went great there and back awake or not for both of you. It shocked me. We started the day at the Tennessee Aquarium. None of us were too impressed but there were a couple exhibits that were cool.

I love when you do that. Today when we were out for a walk, you were humming the whole way home. You still love, "e-i-e-i-o, little teapot, itsy bitsy, monkeys and alligators, ABC" and many others. You LOVE LOVE LOVE dancing to you toolbox's ABC song!

Last year...

Baby please don't run away

Mason,

It always cracks me up when the song stuck in my head makes a perfect title to a letter. Anyway, you have been just off and running lately; body and mouth. Tonight for the first time, you said, "oh no" and "dear God (dea ga)" Thank you Grandma for the latter phrase. I swear your repeating is out of control!
Grandma and I went to a meeting with your new model agency and we are taking pictures for your comp. cards tomorrow with A.J. Play date and pictures all in one. We haven't played with them in a while and I am really excited to hang out for a couple hours. You are also going to have a mini play date with Kamryn tomorrow then maybe with Jakson at his brother Henry's baby shower. Good times!
Speaking of pictures, I took some on Tuesday that I wanted to share! Some are blurry :( I am quickly learning I should have just bite the bullet and gotten a DSLR. Maybe for my 25th birthday.....

After your appointment with the ENT on Thursday, we learned you have a lot of negative pressure and a significant amount of fluid retention in your ears. Hence all the ear infections. We have schedule surgery to implant tubes for April 15th. I am nervous but trying not to think about it. I know it will help you significantly.

I apologize for being so vague in my last few letters. It has been madness in the Turner household. Mommy back to work, means march mayhem is in full swing.
You got your party on for Mardi Gras.

You learned where we keep the cookies and constantly ask for, "cookie"

You can now say so many words and short phrases it is ridiculous. You love to say, "throw, go, poop(y), pretty, toy, school (when you see your bus toy), boo, and beep (when I ask what does the horn do while singing wheels on the bus)" and you even busted out "odie dodie" and "this way." Each day you surprise us with new vocabulary. Go and throw sound similar but you use them correctly.

You are a kissing fool. You pucker up and say, "mmmm."

Yesterday Pop and I took you to your interview with one of the modeling agencies. Honestly, we won't know until Tuesday if they would like to represent you but I have no doubt in my mind that they will. Afterward, we took you to a train show. You LOVED the Lego set up and the large scale trains.
You also mimic sounds. When we sneeze, you spit. When I do my short weird laugh, you do it too. You have learned to blow your food. It is so cute!

You have an ear infection (yeah, another one. no, I am not putting things in your ear). New antibiotic this time. Azithromycin for 5 days. You have been quite irritable with temper tantrums every 10 minutes but you have also been SO lovable. You have been a kissing fool, pucking up and even closing your eyes! Your cough still has bones in it (lol. Memaw says that) and your eyes are all red and puffy. I really hope the strong antibiotic will kick in by tomorrow (lofty I know).

We have been quite busy lately. I am sorry I haven't written in a while.
Lately,
you have been mimicking even more than before

you have been dancing more with your arms and head. SO freakin' cute

we received a notice from another modeling agency who wants to meet with you next weekend!

when you hear the garage door, you pause then yell "daddy." you've been doing it for a while but tonight you were playing in your ball pit and you got so darn excited when you heard the garage door!

you have had a fever for 2 days now and you are on ibuprofen every 6 hours on the dot or it will come back. Grandma is taking you to the doctor tomorrow (other symptoms: runny nose, slight cough, and completely dead without medication).

You and Daddy (along with Uncle Todd and Grandaddy) have been working very hard on the backyard (I'll give myself some credit too!). Today we spent the entire day outside!

My little Mason,

Happy 16 months, Buddy! You are changing every day, growing into a hysterical and active little boy. At your last check up Ms. Diane mentioned that between now and 2 your language will sky rocket. Since then I have really been paying attention to all you can say and understand and it truly amazes me. Grandma has always told me I was a talker and combined with your love for some good play time (from Daddy), you are little a little super dude!
You love to kick. Whether it is at swimming lessons, in the tub looking like the karate kid, or playing ball with Daddy and I, you can not only say "kick" but you do it well. Soccer Tots in in your future for the fall. Speaking of swimming lessons, today you went to your first swimming class at the local aquatic center! You and Grandma had a great time. She said you loved kicking and playing in the water and you didn't want to leave the pool! I am so excited I get to take you on Wednesday.
C has definitely been the letter of the month. This month you have started saying, "cookie", "cupcake," and you have mastered, "cracka (i.e. cracker)" and "cook." I love when you say c words because you say it like with a yiddish gargle!
You have gotten much better at throwing in the past couple days. You have started using a fork and honestly, you knew exactly what to do with it and while we are for sure still in the messy stage, you are pretty darn good at it. As far as the potty goes, you go on it sporadically and for some reason, go potty 99% of the times Daddy puts you on it.
Today you spent your birthday with Daddy playing in the woods and spying on a family of deer.

Today we also learned that Mommy is headed back to the classroom next week. While the opportunity came up very fast, Daddy, both of you Grandparents, and I believe it is the best option for our family right now. I know I will miss you tons but you know as well as I do that when we are together, we will make up for it times 10! Speaking of both sets of your Grandparents, I want you to call both of them right now and thank them for all they have done for you. Memaw, Granddaddy, Grandma, and you beloved Pop love you so much!

Daddy is teaching you how to play baseball as I write this. You are so smart. He says, "go get your bat" and you get it and you are loving carrying around the bat and ball.

We are working on rolling the ball too. You can throw, not too far, and you liked throwing the ball to Jack (Drew and Monique's dog).
The other day we shared some delicious girl scout cookies.

A.J. and I wold love to think you are best friends but to be honest, you don't care much for each other (or you just enjoy bullying him). You were sharing Cheerios and you wanted the one he took so you stuck your hand in his mouth. You still have a nice size bite. Then you got so mad about the whole ordeal that you started grumbling loud then grabbed Wyatt and pushed him down. He is the only baby you bully and we have no idea why.
Another comment about how smart you are. Today a lady was walking by while we were outside playing. She smiled at you and you said, "hi." She said hi back and continued walking. A few seconds later she asked me how old you were. I replied, "almost 16 months." She replied, "and he just said hi to me? that's good." Yeah, we know. I pointed and asked you just a minute ago when you were looking at your parking garage toy funny to go get your cars. Without hesitation you turn, spot the cars and grab them and bring them over. Speaking of cars, you love to push them all around. As I watch you play, I am reminded of a funny thing I passed down to you. When I am concentrating or in the zone, I make goofy faces or stick my tongue out. You either have a small part of your tongue ot or you tuck your top lip.

You are a love machine lately. I ask for a kiss and I get a big open mouth! You only do it for me (sometimes A.K. or Grandma) and I LOVE them!
There is so much more I could brag on that it is hard to even think of all of the great things you are up to. I enjoy every minute I spend with you, even at 3 a.m.

Mason,

Just wanted to fill you in on a few little things. Brushing your teeth is getting quite difficult. I use a finger brush and my finger bleeds 95% of the time because you bite so hard! You now have 3 back molars and 2 bottom canines. Seems like they all popped through while you were sick (good timing).
A few days ago you met a new friend, Paxton, who is only a week old! To be honest, you were way more interested in the dog and the cage but the first time you really noticed him you looked at him and said, "hi" in a gentle little voice. I almost cried.

You also got to play with Haven at the park this week.

You want to be outside all the time. Daddy and I love that you like to be out so much but it's the bringing you in that's tough. You could rake the yard for a straight hour! Seriously you come downstairs in the morning and before we even talk breakfast, you are standing at the back door!
You wake up between 7-7:30 and cry for your paci (like there isn't 5 in your crib) once or twice a night. Makes Daddy and I sad. Don't get me wrong, we love you but we need sleep (going on 3 years no sleep so at this point there is no sleep in sight).
You continue to love singing (you say, "old macdonald very clearly), Super Why, and your movie. When you are watching your movie, you love to lounge like a bump on a log sometimes with your head in my lap (love). Anytime I say the word, "music" you put your hands together like you want to sing Itsy Bitsy Spider or you point to the computer and we jam out to Justin Bieber (I LOVE him!) or Dr. Jean.
Today you hung out with Memaw and Grandaddy while Mommy was at work and passed out in the swing! They sure know how to keep you busy. You went to see your Great Granny and she is so excited you will be spending Saturdays with them! While we were there, you started saying, "Granddaddy" plain as day. You love it over there!
We received an invitation to meet an agent from a prestigious modeling agency in Atlanta today. Of course that doesn't mean we will in fact be represented but once they meet you, I imagine they will jump to (even if they don't, we are still working with Ms. Stacy)! Honestly, I am not sure we would even do it if asked. Typically agencies require an exclusive agreement and I really like working with the people we work with now. I imagine your Dad is the most excited about all of this modeling, you look just like him!

Yesterday at the shoot, Stacy said I really needed to get your haircut before Thursday's shoot. Dad and I knew it was coming so we agreed with her and Grandma and I took you to Pigtails and Crewcuts for your very first haircut!
Ms. Gwen was great. We just kept feeding you cookies (that is why you look like a chipmunk in the pictures) and she was talking you through what she was doing and you just chilled!

Boo Boo,

We have had so much fun the past few days. From playing outside, to Mommy and Mason cuddle fest 2011 on the couch two days in a row, we just couldn't be happier. Since you love being outside and like Daddy, we figured we'd put you to work!

Spring Fever

Mason,

I am not going to lie, I have had my doubts about medical professionals over diagnosing and prescribing medications for conditions that they aren't even sure the child has. When Diane told me you had the flu and a sinus infection and prescribed all that medicine and pain reliever, I was very skeptical. I was proved wrong. Just a few days in you have no fever and are back to Mason. No runny nose or anything. Praise God.
Since you have been feeling so good we have been able to take advantage of the amazing weather we have had. I had a friend cut down almost all of the trees in the backyard and I moved your treehouse and house onto the porch and we have been out back ever since. The other night you just stood by the door. You LOVED it. Needless to say we are so ready for spring!
In other news, you have starting using the potty. I know, crazy! Yesterday morning, Daddy got up with you and let me sleep in. I heard you two come upstairs and Daddy turn on the shower. Then Daddy yelled, " YOU WENT PEE PEE ON THE POTTY!" I shot out of bed and joined in the celebration. Daddy said he figured he'd set you on the potty and patronize my practice. Within a few seconds, it happened! Fast forward to yesterday evening. Daddy took you home from dinner and after he changed your diaper he said he could tell you had to go potty. He asked you then sat you on the potty and you went instantly. Crazy! By no means are we full-on potty training but we are so excited that you seem to be interested in the idea.
Yesterday I took you to the mall. They have a kid play area and of course, you had a good time. All of the children were older and you really just barked at them and giggled and followed them around. While we were there, I asked you if you wanted a cracker. You said loud and clear, "cracka." Alright, you get a cracker. Later I handed you your sippy cup and I could see it was getting in the way of your playing. You walked over to me, smiled, and said, "ho dis." Sure buddy, I'll hold your cup.

God Bless this Mess

Mason,

Mommy is so thankfully that even though you are sick frequently, you are a healthy little boy and recover quickly. This past week after a cranky park date with Haven and Wyatt, the doctor announced you have the flu AND a sinus infection.

Symptoms:
Runny nose - 2 weeks (assumed teething...wrong)
Diaper rash - 2 days (teething. went away. came back a little because of antibiotics)
High fever - 2 days
Dry heaving - 2 days (morning of appointment and morning after)
Cough - 4 days (not horrible just from all the drainage)
Loss of appetite - 5 days (beginning 2 days before the appointment, you wouldn't eat anything. maybe a cookie, banana, or cheese. maybe.

Back to the park, we knew something was up. The two of us had a picnic before Haven and Wyatt arrived and I bought Chick-fil-a for us. You ate a total of 1 strawberry. That was it. You had fun but were extremely whiny and didn't like the slide (healthy Mason LOVES the slide).

You are on Omniceft once a day for in infection, Tamiflu for the flu (duh), and Ms. Diane gave you a new, stronger prescription for your eczema since the other didn't do much. Until today, you were on a strict 3 hour regimen of Tylenol and Ibuprofen. If we let it go even 30 minutes longer, you could feel your temperature rise.
At the doctor, you were the saddest I have even seen you (no lie). You kept curling up on Grandma and I not wanting anything but to cuddle in a ball (total fetal position). You even fell asleep in the middle of the appointment.

You weighed exactly 22 lbs. You are feeling much better and I hope it continues. Your 15 month appointment is soon. Please pray you have no reaction to the shot. I don't know if you or I can handle more illness right now.

My little Peanut,
Happy Hallmark Holiday! 4 lllooonnnggg years ago (lol), this was Daddy and I's first holiday and since we were just friends, a simple Happy Hallmark Holiday text was suffice. Still today we don't make a big deal out of it. Of course before Grandma left on vacation, she made a big deal out of it baking you a mini heart cake with conversation hearts, giving you a stuffed monkey complete with fuzzy heart, and she along with Great Grandma, got you a card. I just like the excuse to dress you in my version of a pirate valentine.

The weather is a PERFECT 63 and you know we played outside and had fun. Before though we went to a free trial class at the Little Gym. You had a great time dancing, running, walking on the balance beam (you did really well), and playing on all of the other awesome mats. Too bad it is so expensive or we would be there every week!
Yesterday we headed to Stride Rite to purchase your second pair of shoes. You measured a size 4.5 wide so we bought a size 5. They are big boy running shoes with traction. Hope they are ready for all your action!
On Friday, you started not only shaking your head no but saying it along with it. You use the motion/word combo correctly 75% of the time. The other 25% is times when I ask you if you want something and you say no then continue to haggle for it. Since we are trying to teach you how to really use the word, we are withholding until you say more or yeah (which you inevitably to a minute later). You are also started using more again and have started saying all done (when I ask if you are all done because you are throwing your food on the floor).

The Dreaded Ex

Mason,

We don't have to wait for you to get older to deal with the dread ex. Mommy and Grandma both have to deal with it everyday it was only a matter of time before it would strike you. I am talking about eczema. After hearing you couldn't have athlete's foot (the cream didn't work anyway) and treating you with powder (which didn't help either), I noticed your hands were staring to peel. Mommy's intuition stepped in and I took you to Dr. Saade this morning. You weighed in at 22lbs. 12 ounces and what do you know? You have joined me and Gram in the dreaded ex club. You specifically have dyshidrotic dermatitis. Amazingly, he prescribed a cream that I put over your feet and hands along with Aquaphor and within one application, it looks better! Yeah! You also have a little on your tummy I will start treating tomorrow.
In other news, your nose is quite runny from that dang molar, your hair is getting longer by the minute, and I love you very much. That is all.

Can you imagine the perfect place for a toddler? Mess? No problem. They clean it. You like balls, trains, water, and moon sand? They have it. Is the kid a wanderer? Plenty of kid-friendly carpet. We went to that place today along with Jakson and Wyatt (and a super cute surprise guest); Imagine It! Children's Museum.
From balls falling from the sky to plastic rakes and wooden train tables, to playing with Ben Affleck's kid in moon sand, we did it all.

I loved watching you play with that weird stuff. You were digging in it and really playing with it. That gets me very excited about the beach this summer (and again in November).

After moon sand, you played Picasso then we headed to the water area, dress up, and back to your favorite...moon sand.

15 months

Mason,

It is hard to believe your rate of growth. Seriously dude. People tell you when you are pregnant that your little ones childhood will fly by but when you have a newborn, you have no idea what they are talking about or just pray for them to grow up so you can't sleep at night. You are a walking, talking, screaming example of a toddler now and I can't believe the Lord chose me to be your mom.
I am a ball of energy. I love to go, go, go. Whenever I wonder where you get it all from, I forget to take a look at myself. Of course, we all know you look like Daddy but you are opinionated, grouchy, and goofy, which are all your mom.
At 15 months, your schedule has remained pretty similar other than the move to one nap. That's right. You nap for 2 hours beginning between 11:30 and 12:00 and typically waking at lunch time. If we happen to be in the car at 6:30 (seems to happen quite a bit), you will take a short snooze then too (never let it be more than just the car ride though). You head off to dream land between 8:15 and 8:45 and we won't hear you most of the time until at least 8:00. Sometimes, you will be fussy around 7:00ish which is when I pop you in bed with me. In that situation (guilty of it 4/7 mornings), we wake up around 8:30 and cuddle (my favorite!).
When I get home from work, I pick you up and you lay your head on my shoulder. I am the only one you do it to!
Last night we went out to eat with A.J., Wy, and Ms. Greene and you broke the first plate you have ever broken (and the first ever broken at the restaurant). Yeah for milestones....

You sleep 11-12 hours each night and put yourself to sleep after a short singing session. You know where your hair, tummy, and head are. We are wearing size 12 month clothing (which is 9-12 months) and in Old Navy, size 12-18 months.

Fun. It's our family motto I think. Today we had just that, we began the morning with a play date with a new friend

After brushing our teeth,

we spent the day goofing off. You were extra cuddly today because your back molar has broken through! I could tell it was bothering you too. I can't believe you still have more molars to cut. Holy moley!

This evening, Chris, Alex, and both sets of your grandparents came over to watch the superbowl. We definitely need to have people over more often. You loved hanging with the guys (doing your ninja moves), grabbing chips and dip, and playing with both of your grandmas.

Earlier this week, we hung out with Mrs. Lisa and Haven. You two had a great time ~~tearing up~~ playing in the cabinet. Haven kept walking up to you and giving you big hugs and you didn't mind at all. In fact, you walked up to him a couple times to do the same. Mrs. Lisa said, "wow, he really is a talker!" Yup, always jibber jabbering away.

Communication

Mason,

Being married for 21/2 years has taught me something about communication. You have to have it if you want to get your point across. If you don't get your point across, anger will ensue and in the Turner house, you don't want to go there. Seems in your almost 15 months of life, you too have learned a little something about communication.
You talk all the time. Some real words used properly, some jibber jabber meant to be words that we just don't understand, and some plain jibber jabber. You mimic and read lips constantly. Today while you were eating lunch I asked you, "are you watching the microwave?" Then you whispered, "microwave." Not even in baby speak but straight up. Especially when we are singing (a few weeks ago happy birthday, lately Itsy Bitsy), you will stare us down and move your lips. The wheels that must be turnin'!
Your favorite song is Itsy Bitsy Spider. Want to know how I know? You make the spider and move your arms up! No lie (got it on video, what what!). When you hear a song with even the tune or if I ask you if you want to sing a song, you put your chunky little fingers together and move your hands up. We are working on the rest of the hand movements too.
You have great communication when it comes to getting what you want. Just in the past few days, you will walk around with your arm up and seem upset, when I take the time to look at what you are pointing at, it will be a sippy (sometimes a pacifier). Tonight, you wanted to play a new game my great grandpa played with me; clap hands, clap hands, oops! (I clap your face). You love it and sometimes when you'd put your hands together, I was thinking you wanted to sing the Itsy Bitsy Spider. You shook your head and got sad until I started the clap hands game.
I am glad you are starting to really be able to communicate with us but I am scared because I know full sentences are right around the corner. Stop growing up so fast!

Lil' Scrappy

No...the REAL Lil' Scrappy

Because A.K. is an intern at Kennesaw State University's Owl Radio and has worked very hard, she now has her own radio show once a week. After your first visit to the station, everyone fell in love with you and they wanted you to be there mascot. Crafty Grandma whipped up an owl costume and voila! Now you walk around saying, "owl" and "hoot hoot." KSU's mascot is named Scrappy so we "dubbed" you Lil' Scrappy. When you are on-air (which you have been), you are DJ M Dub. While at he station, I heard you say, "owl" and "Cata (Carter)" for the first time. Go Owls!
