Long time no see

Baby Boo,
Whoa! Since the snow-a-poloza 4-day we have been busy bees! So much to update!

So the snow was rough in our neighborhood. Thankfully on the second night, the three of us went out to the Curry's to have a house-happy party. Benjamin (20 months), Grayson (4 months), and you (14.5 months) were a hoot. Grayson just watched as Benjamin would grab you by the hand and take you all over the house. Mrs. Charity kept saying, "sorry" and I kept reminding her not to worry. You loved getting into things being with Benjamin! There were a couple times when you grab Benjamin and yell, "ahhhr." One time Daddy heard it, went into the playroom and Ben was lying on the floor. Hmmmm...Anyway, happy to report the Ben taught you something. You now grab hands (or garments) and drag people around (Mr. Steven at Daddy's work).
Speaking of Daddy's work, you two stopped in yesterday and he put you to work!

You love you bulldog slippers! I am so happy I found a pair in your size (most babies with a size 3.5 shoe can't walk).
Still addicted to your two Baby Einstein movies.
Funny story about the stupid snow. Since our neighborhood was so bad and both Pop and Gram got stuck trying to rescue us from our cabin fever, we had a lot of Mommy Mason time. On Day 4, we needed a change of scenery. So your crazy Grandma came up with an escape plan. We walked. I put you in the stroller and pushed you through the ice where we met Grandma and walked to the front of the neighborhood where she parked. As you can imagine, we spent the night at Gram and Pop's. Snow is great....for 1 day!
I haven't taken many pictures lately but here are a few:

I really wish I could say you look like me and I do think you have my eyes, nose, and forehead.

You greatly enjoy taking my glasses off and trying to put them on

You are consistently sleeping at night. Even putting yourself to sleep when you don't want to. Thank you.
You also consistently amaze me. You are so smart. Even though you have been doing certain things for a while (pulling out toys you want, stepping out of clothes, pulling your shirt off, putting your hands up with I say, "upy goes" to take your shirt off, etc), every time you do them I am reminded how blessed I am to have such an intelligent little dude. It took you one play time to learn how to play the triangle. The first time you weren't able to hold both and hit the triangle. The next time you played with it, Daddy said you got it immediately. Of course, I got to see you play today.

You are out of 6-9 months clothes and wearing size 12m clothes (which really means 9-12mo.). We have tried 12-18 and the waist, length, and shirts are just too big still. Right now Target (circo and cherokee), Wal-Mart (jumping bean), and Polo 12 month fit the best.

Love you, Peanut,
Mommy

Cabin Fever

Mason,

While I am so happy to have extra time with you, we are both going a bit mad. On a normal day we are out and about. With the snow however, we are in. period. Although you have more toys than a toy store, you are still antsy. I too need a change of scenery. Daddy is at work and we are playing. Some pictures of you cabin crazy self.

Lots of tickling happening over here!

Love you,
Mommy

Snowpocalypse

Mason,

We left Grammy and Pop's last night after a fabulous game of Catch Phrase and meal of spaghetti at 9:00 last night. The weathermen have said over and over that a snowpocalypse (lots of snow in a short period of time and panicked Georgians) would begin. Dad and I aren't the type of people who invest much in the meteorologist's predictions, but thankfully we bought up BJ's yesterday. Back to the story. As we were leaving the snow was light. After an 8 minute ride and 10 minutes to get settled in, our front yard was covered. By the time 9:40 hit, we were hearing reports of road closings and traffic accidents. With all said and done (we still have a little freezing rain), here is 685 we got at least 7 inches! Daddy made in venture out to work. Who on Earth would buy lumber today? Thankfully his boss called him on the way and told him to head back. Family day!

yum
You had on two pairs of pants, two pairs of socks, two pairs of shoes, a hat, a hood, 2 shirts, and 2 jackets. Good enough, Grandma???

Love,
Mommy

It's a girl!

Mason,

Turns out, I did give birth to your twin after all. Masonét
You looked quite cute in Grandma's fuzzy socks and A.K.'s hair bow. You are quite the little boy though.

You eventually fall, smile (sometimes giggle), and get right back on. Today you turned the big 1-4 months! It seems you get smarter each day (it's scary). Not sure if I have mentioned it before but you understand the words breakfast and hat. You can put hats on your head or touch your head when I say hat and every morning after your diaper change, I let you play for a minute. Then I'll say the words breakfast and you stop what you are doing and either walk to me with your hands up or walk to the gate.
You are finally starting to sleep better and are back to two one hour naps (the one one hour was killing you (and me)).
You have throughly enjoyed being around Great Grammy and Pop the past few weeks. Great Grandma chases you around to make sure you don't hurt yourself (which is all the time) and stay clean and sanitized and when you get into something you aren't supposed to (again, all the time) she says, "ahh ahh ahh" and of course, you say it now too.
You greatly enjoy Ms. Poozley too. You love to lay on her, sit on her, pet her (all we used to say was, "gentle" and now we don't even have to. she is your buddy (most of the time)), and chase her while barking.

Love you,
Mommy

Being a parent...

Mason,

It seems we have hit the terrible terrific twos sooner than expected. Not sure if I am diggin' it. This afternoon and evening were exceptions but lately, I am just going to say it, you've been a spoiled brat. From not sleeping well (up at 6:00 and in bed with us), to constantly wanting to be held, always whining, it was driving me nuts. I have tried to enjoy all of our time together but I just want to make some Oreo balls! At Grandma and Pop's house you have learned to turn the TV on and off. Just like with the toilet, no matter how many times any of us say, "no" you don't care and will keep at it! Being a parent is tough! It is hard to follow through, hard to say, "no," and hard not to just freakin' laugh.

Like I said, today, however, we had a great day and throughly enjoyed playing together. We met Wyatt and A.J. at the fabulous Monkey Joes (where Wyatt humped a play mat) then ate lunch at Chicky Lay. After an hour nap, then another hour nap on Mommy, we headed to the animal shelter. We met a beautiful lab who loved following you around. Since then we have been playing like you wouldn't believe. I am not going to lie, you play hard. The other day while in Great Grammy and Pop's room, you would stand on the bed (new favorite thing), plop on your booty, then fall backwards.
Favorite toys
- Melissa and Doug maracas

- Ride-on horse

- Lookout Treehouse (you prefer to go up the slide and even though I haven't caught you on camera, can actually climb the steps)
- My Pal, Scout (you carry him around and dance when he sings)
- Vtech 3-in-1 Smart Wheels (like to sit and stand on it)
- Shape sorter (this amazes me. I feel like you are really learning when we play with it)
You are doing so much at almost 14 months, I can't wait 3 days for the update. Some I know I have mentioned but they deserve mention again!
- you stomp. it's adorable. you do it to step on something or when you dance
- you can walk up the stairs if I hold your hands (big ol' steps too)
- you point to the tv and say, "mooney" and today you turned on the DVD player
- me: "what does a dog say?"
mason: "huff huff" you basically take loud, short breaths
- you know where your tummy is and hair (which is getting super long in the back...). not sure what we will learn next
- you ate broccoli and cheese for the first time tonight and liked it!
- your 6-9 month clothes are finally getting too short!
- you can "brush" your hair and talk on the phone. basically you just put them behind your head but it's cute!
- you LOVE, I mean LOVE brushing your teeth (all 7 of them). I bought you a big boy tooth brush and after I brush them, I hand it over to you and when you eventually (10 minutes later) drop it, I have to hide it so we don't fight
- if you could be anywhere in the world, you would be asleep on my chest
- runny nose and drool is leading Daddy and I to believe there is another tooth on the way but there is NO way we can get you to open your mouth

Well, it is super late (10:30!) and I am hitting the sack. Hopefully you will sleep through the night!

Love you,
Mommy

End Volume I

Mason,

The time has come to publish the letters I have written over the past year. No worries, I will continue to blog. I plan to create a new book at the beginning of each year. I have throughly enjoyed writing you and I hope you have enjoyed volume I. This year has been filled with wonder, amazement, fun, and most of all, love. Thank you for being you!

Love,
Mommy
