Semi-Wordless Wednesday

What a difference a month makes! Look how mad you were in your Bumbo last month then look at the two pictures of you last week! What a big boy :)

New Stuff

Hola mi bebe! You started squealing earlier on in the week. It is SO cute! Last night, you swallowed your cereal for the first time and ate half of the container (well probably about 1/3 since 1/3 was on your face!). You were home yesterday with Daddy and he texted me to say you were scooting across the floor on your back! He laid you on the floor about a yard from the wall so he could sort laundry and when he turned around, you were against the wall. So silly and so big! You also started hitting and trying to eat the books we read at night. Maybe you will be an avid reader like Mommy.

Also, this week, you got to meet your great grandma, Mary Frances. You smiled at her a lot and boy, she lit up when she saw you. Your great grandma hasn't been well for quite some times. It is rare that she "comes back" and communicates. You bet when she saw you, it was like she wan't ill anymore. Playing with you, talking to you, it was amazing. This weekend, we went to Build-A-Bear and you and I created your friend, Goo. It was a blast and you LOVE him!

Love,
Momma

My 4 1/2 month old

Mase,

What a difference a year makes! The above ultrasound was you March 25th last year. The picture is you holding your head up yesterday March 20th!

Here are some notes:
  • You rolled over from back to front this morning!
  • Last night, you laughed hysterically at your (hopefully) Aunt Alex. This proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that you like blondes because you only laugh like that for yourself (in the mirror) and at Mommy and Daddy.

  • We started cereal Friday night before your last feeding. Yeah, it's pretty funny. I put it in, you push it out.
  • After you projectile vomited like you were possessed last weekend, we moved to five feedings a day and trying to space them 3.5-4 hours. It has been going great and you continue to sleep through the night (average 8.5 hours a night). Sample schedule:
6:30 - Wake up and bottle
8:00 - Nap
10:00 - Bottle
11:30 - Nap
1:30 - Bottle
3:00 - Nap
5:00 - Bottle
Most of the time you will skip this nap or take a 30 minute one
8:30 - Cereal then a bottle

As far as naps, 2 are about an hour and 1 is 1 1/2 -2 hours. You still nap 99% of the time in your swing or on someone. Grandma is working on getting you to sleep in your crib at her house and you are doing great with it. Daddy and I don't worry about trying to get you to sleep in your crib here since we are not home with you that much.
  • Night time is still my favorite time. It is just me and you. I change your diaper and put you in your J's. Then we sit in the rocker and I read you a story. Once you start getting antsy, I turn off the light and rock and sing to you until you are almost out, then lay you in the crib. My song list is the same: Twinkle, Twinkle, ABC's, Barney "I love you" song, then Celine Dion's "Because you love me." During the singing portion, I used to have to give you your paci to help you fall asleep; not anymore. I know that you know our routine well enough that you can fall asleep easier. You still cry in your sleep a little but it last less than a minute.

  • Friday was your official 4 month appointment and you weighed 13 lbs. 4 ounces with no clothes on making you in the 50th percentile for weight. YEAH! Your head circumference and height were in the 25th percentile. You were a true champ with your shots. The oral vaccine (roto) went down well, the first shot in your thigh you barely whined for, and like the nurse warned me, your other shot in the opposite thigh hurt when the vaccine went in and you did cry but for less than a minute. The rest of the day and into the afternoon yesterday you were a little sensitive, making you a bit crabby but no fever or reaction.

  • You drool like a dog staring at a steak

  • You and Daddy are buddies. Daddy used to say, "he's a Mommy's boy" but I know that has changed. You definitely love me but Daddy can make you smile and laugh all the time.

  • Finally, you feel better! You still have a bit of a cough but the frequency is no where near what is was. Dr. Saade said your ears and lungs are clear!
You are perfect and I love you SO much. You are a blast to be around and make Daddy and I exceptionally happy.

Looking forward to Spring Break,
Mommy

The very garlicy rolls at Scalini's Daddy and I consumed when we tried the "eggplant approach"
In the two pictures above, you were still in preemie clothes. Amazing how you have changed!First day of school with Grandma
(who has decided to stop teaching after this year to stay with you!)
Leavin' you with a big ol' smile!

Still Sick

Bashful,

Yep. When you start smiling, sometimes you'll put your hands over your eyes. Your dimples are really coming out now. The other day, Grandpa and I sat you by the sink so you could look at yourself in the mirror (you discovered yourself about 1 week or so ago). You laughed HYSTERICALLY at yourself. I swear, you are the happiest child in the universe.
As the header says, you are still ill. Your ear infection has cleared up (you still have fluid in your right ear though), but your cough and congestion are horrible. Grandma and I took you to immediate care yesterday and they have to stick tubes down your nose and throat to get all the gunk. I cried and boy, so did you. It was awful. You also had your first chest x-ray which proved you don't have pnemonia. Diane (the nurse pracitioner at your dr.'s office that Mommy loves) conducted your re-check today and she said to continue the new antibiotics she started you on last week (since the Amoxil didn't cut it), Omniceft, and check you for RSV since you are wheezing. We will get those results tomorrow. At the Dr., you weighed 13lbs. 6oz. today. What a big boy! Actually, that isn't big for your age but you are very well proportioned (ok, your head is a little big lol). We will go back to the Dr. yet again on Friday for another re-check and your "official" 4 month check-up. If you are still feeling bad, we will hold off on shots (whew!).
You know where your thumb is now! You try to suck it every chance you get. We can hold you like a baby on our hip now. You don't weeble like you used to.

Keepin' you updated always,
Mommy

*Edit: You don't have RSV!

4 months old

Mr. Mason,

Yesterday, you turned 4 months old. It is crazy how fast time is flying by. You are still very sick so I took you to the Dr. yesterday and your left ear infection is still awful as well as your diaper rash. Stronger prescriptions here we come! You are a trooper though as you are still sleeping through the night and not really fussy at all. Next week is your official 4 month appointment when your Dr. and I will discuss soolid food (and you get those dreaded shots).
"Goo" and "gee" are you favorite words. You have also started laughing; I mean like hysterically. So far, you have only done it for Mommy and Daddy though. The Dr. mentioned yesterday that you have a perfectly shaped head. Personally, I think all of you is perfect. 70 was the temperature yesterday and we went on a long walk with Grandma and Sicily and you had a ball. I also let you play outsideand feel the grass between your toes. You still hate sun but I know that will change as we are heading to Florida in June. Anyway, I love you and can't wait to see you at 3:00!

Growing Up

It is truly amazing watching you grow up. We notice something new every day. This weekend was filled with new experiences. Saturday, you met your great grandpa and his girlfriend, Ronnie. You flirted with Ronnie like crazy!
Grandma, Ronnie, and I also took you to get your first professional pictures made. Although it was your nap time, you pushed through and the pictures turned out great (how could they not). That night, you learned how to make the "girrgle" sound and you were fixated on it. Sunday, however, was not as positive. For the past 2 weeks, you have been slightly conjested and on Sunday, it hit its peak. Your first official illness :( Last night was rough and you ended up in bed with Mommy and Daddy. Calling the doctor today but I imagine he will say we are doing all we can for you.
I apologize for not adding pictures to the last few (ok, more than a few) posts. I don't have as much time as I used to for uploading. When I am with you, I want to spend as much time with youas I can, not upload pictures you can see in an album anyway.

I love you Mace Face and can't wait to see you this afternoon.

*Edit: Daddy took you to the doctor. Good news, you weighed 12 pounds and change. Bad news, you have an ear infection. You are on Amoxicillin for 10 days.
